About

Elena Sicconi moved with her family to the United States in 1998 at ten years old. Though art was always a passion, after a few college years she struggled with mental health as she did in her teens. Part of what helped her process childhood trauma was the ability to allow herself to make mistakes - something that she always struggled with. The act of creation now allows her to think as she does, not as she has been expected to, building on every idea with another idea, refining and tuning instead of planning. Painting and fiber arts are both new mediums, having started in summer of 2025. Painting allows for multiple layers, but takes more work to make sharp edges, embroidery does the opposite. Switching between them adds a level of understanding of new techniques. Pop culture has allowed her to escape and imagine throughout the years. Chappell helped her start a journey that felt impossible. Horror books and movies helped her become unafraid, and the women protagonists showed resilience in a better light. Snubbed by misogyny and thus incentivising her to be louder about it. ‘Hating pop doesn't make you deep’ - Addison Rae's Shirt
