This curated exhibit will feature fine art and craft available for purchase and taken at the time of sale. Matted prints and items that do not need to hang are eligible for this exhibit.
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, America 250: A Creative Reflection invites artists and viewers alike to explore the rich, complex, and evolving story of the United States. This exhibit brings together diverse voices and perspectives that honor the nation’s past, examine its present, and imagine its future.
Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and other media, artists reflect on themes of identity, freedom, resilience, community, and change. From historical narratives to deep personal expressions, each piece contributes to a larger conversation about what America has been—and what it can become.
Artists are encouraged to consider a wide range of subject matter, including landscapes that capture the changing American terrain, portraits that honor the people who have shaped its history, and scenes of everyday life that reveal the lived experiences of communities across time. These visual stories—both grand and intimate—help illuminate the many layers of the American experience.
This exhibition celebrates creativity as a unifying force, offering a space for dialogue, reflection, and inspiration. As we mark 250 years of the American journey, America 250 reminds us that art plays a vital role in shaping our shared cultural legacy and envisioning the road ahead.
Salary and Benefits: $50,000-$60,000 + generous benefits package
Overview:
TheaterWorks Hartford (TWH) is currently seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the historic building, which includes offices, lobby, scenic shop, gallery, rehearsal studio and theater. The successful candidate will be highly organized, hands-on, and experienced in managing complex projects for both commercial and residential buildings.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Facility walkthroughs to identify issues and potential problems and implementing repairs
• Respond to and manage emergency situations
• Ensure the cleanliness and integrity of the facilities
• Maintain building mechanicals, including electrical, lighting, plumbing, elevators, HVAC and security
• Oversee outside vendors; obtain proposals, review contracts, secure insurance certificates, oversee maintenance contracts and approve invoices
• Open/close buildings outside of business hours to provide access for repairs, inspections, cleaning, deliveries, and maintenance
• Rent and procure equipment and materials as needed
• Collaborate with staff to plan and execute the buildout and renovation of gallery spaces for exhibitions
• Maintain operational storage in each location, collaborating with staff to prioritize materials, tools and equipment necessary to be onsite
• Restock cleaning and porter supplies, maintain storage closets
• Schedule cleanings and custodial staff
• Oversee trash, recycling and dumpster removals
• Responsible for periodic building maintenance services, including pest control, snow removal, landscaping, fire extinguisher inspections, and graffiti removal
• Facilitate inspections with HFD, insurance company, health department, elevator inspector, sprinkler test inspector, fire extinguisher inspector, elevator load tester, and other regulators
• Uphold building safety and regulatory compliance
• Maintain water cooler supply
Required Qualification & Skills:
• Knowledge in construction and renovations; with hands-on experience in minor facility repairs and maintenance in all trades – electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevators, security, painting and carpentry
• Creative problem-solver, idea generator, and self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Exceptional time management skills with attention to meeting deadlines
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
• Knowledge of security and safety procedures
• Enthusiastic relationship builder, eager to interact and collaborate with fellow staff members and other members of the TWH community
• Understanding of CT building regulations and codes is preferred but not required
• Some knowledge of engineering and architecture is preferred
About TheaterWorks Hartford:
Since 1985, TheaterWorks Hartford has presented quality, live contemporary American Theater to an audience of nearly 30,000 in the heart of Connecticut’s capital. Located in downtown Hartford, the theater presents 5-6 productions per year in its 188-seat venue along with its popular Living Room Concert Series in the expansive Hoffman Lobby, artistic talks, play readings, and special events throughout the season.

Overview:
TheaterWorks Hartford (TWH) is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development to join our team.
This position requires a strategic thinker, a collaborative leader, and a results-oriented professional. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts, a strong understanding of fund development, and the ability to collaborate with cross- functional teams to achieve organizational goals. With leadership and senior management, the Director of Development will expand TWH’s donor base and engage the greater Hartford community and beyond.
The Director of Development is a key member of TWH’s senior management and works in close relationship with TWH’s Board of Directors. Together, they are responsible for articulating, planning and overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive development plan for all sources of contributed revenue—from the board, individuals, as well as institutions including foundations, corporations and government agencies. The Director of Development is charged with overseeing ongoing activities aimed at identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors to expand support for the theater’s general operations, as well as new fundraising campaigns for special projects.
