We are always looking for new artists to display in Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center. Our center is located in the heart of downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana. We have three gorgeous floors of gallery spaces in our 1911 courthouse-turned-art center, where we host traveling exhibitions, regional/local artists, community events, cultural programming, educational field trips/guided tours, and visual and performing art workshops inside and on the grounds of our historic property.
Attention all artists, photographers, videographers, and content creators! This exquisite natural light art studio and all-purpose creative space is now open for hourly reservations.
• Conveniently located just minutes from the I-95/I-91 with spacious off-street parking.
• About 1,500 square feet, showcasing a generous wet painting area, gallery or display wall, chic seating area, cozy dining spot, and a food prep station.
• Hardwood floors, soaring 20+ foot ceilings, heat and AC.
• Illuminated by four large windows facing southeast, flooding it with natural light.
It is a perfect creative haven that's perfect for small gatherings, podcasts, photoshoots, dinner parties, art shows, vendor shows. Tables and chairs are available upon request. Access to two ADA bathrooms and a work sink in the hallway.
Other Perks of the Rental:
• A small gallery area with art hung makes the ideal, instant backdrop!
• Some props such as a ladder, and general industrial art-making supplies.
Grants at CT Humanities
Connecticut Humanities grants have supported a variety of projects and organizations for more than four decades. Since 1995, the Connecticut General Assembly has provided funding to Connecticut Humanities to deliver “…grants and support services for institutions in the humanities, including but not limited to libraries, museums and historical and cultural societies and associations.”

Quick Grants - Project Support. $250-$4,999. Deadline: First Friday of August, October, December, February, April, June.
Capacity Grants - To support consultant-led projects up to $9,999 to help Connecticut organizations strengthen their internal operations and ability to bring the humanities to the public. Deadline: First Friday of November, April.
Implementation Grants - Implementation Grants of up to $35,000 support the execution of humanities activities such as exhibitions, public programs, and interpretive digital media projects. Deadline: First Friday of November, April.
Planning Grants - Planning Grants of up to $25,000 support the research, planning, and development of humanities projects, such as exhibitions, public programs, and interpretive digital media. Deadline: First Friday of November, April.

Who is eligible to apply?
We are looking to support groups that align with the criteria below:
BILPOC organizers and BILPOC-led groups, working with BILPOC folks
Those doing organizing work (such as community organizing, activism and advocacy, or electoral engagement)
Those working on grassroots efforts (working primarily with residents, parents, youth, students rather than organizations, professions, congregations, unions, etc.)
Low or under-resourced organizations/groups
Types of supports can you request funding for?
What do we mean by wellness and capacity building support? We are open to what you – our partners in this work – identify as a need to achieve your organizing goals. Here are some examples:
Staff retreat needs – facilitator, facilities/space, etc.
Conflict resolution within your group or with external partners and allies
Yoga sessions for your staff team
Conference registration, travel and lodging
Therapist costs for an organizer
Trainings and professional development
Feel free to request funds for what you feel will strengthen and support the goals of grassroots organizing groups/organizations – you do not need to stick to our examples.
